Morecambe now has another 4 star caravan park- 25/07/12

The North West's largest holiday park has been awarded 4 stars for the first time ever. The Ocean Edge Holiday and Leisure Park on the outskirts of Morecambe has finally received the rating after much time and energy has been spent on improving the communal areas. The park is owned by South Parkland Parks and is situated in Heysham.

Caravan owners blame forecasters for half empty sites - 20/06/12

Bosses of caravan parks in the South of England are blaming the weather forecasters for alarming the public that the risk of bad weather means that the South should be avoided in the coming days. They are saying that late bookings are hugely down, due to the over pessimestic forecasts, this is obviously bad news for the parks, as this should be in the start of the businest time of the year and many families are leaving making there holiday bookings till the last minute.

Wales hit by flooding - 10/06/12

The great british summer continues, torrential downpours in Wales, near Aberystwyth. Many caravan sites have been flooded ruining owners homes, investments and holidays of many families hoping for an early summer break over half term. Many people had to be winched to safety and some homes are beyond repair.

Tax U-turn on the sale of new caravans - 29/05/12

The government has now made a huge reversal on their decision to charge the full 20% VAT of the sales of new caravans in the UK. It has been announced today, that there will still be an increase in the VAT payable, however it will only be 5%. This will help existing owners when their static caravan is ready to be updated or potential new owners to take the plunge. Also, it will be a relief for all caravan makers, who were looking at a huge reduction in sales and thousands of job loses.

The back down seems to have been partly brought on by the petition and march of thousands of caravan enthusiasts and owners in Westminster.

VAT plans worries for caravan manufactuers - 22/03/12

The planned 20% VAT levy on static caravans is angering all manufacturers and owners. A manufacturer in the North East says that he is concerned about 350 jobs in his company alone. To go from no VAT to 20% is a massive hike and this will make a huge difference to the number of caravans sold.He feels that there will be about a 30% drop in sales, which is too much for a small company to take.

New Holiday Park in Cornwall will be the Premier Park in the Country-16/08/12

The new luxury caravan park near Truro will be built and run by Park Leisure 2000 who committing well over £4.8M to the project. The park will be called 'Oyster Bay' and will consist of 77 high-end caravans with prices going up to around £250K, however much cheaper options will be available.

UK temperature is hotter than many caribbean destinations - 24/07/12

Why would anybody go on holiday abroad when the temperature in the UK is higher than many expensive holiday destinations. When you add in the fact that the Olympics are just about to start in our own back yard, there really is no need to go, unless of course you are trying to escape the Olympics! The only issue that there may be is that the weather here could well be back to winter tempatures by the time you wake up tomorrow. Anyway lets enjoy the holiday weather while we have it, however short the summer may be.

Holiday village revamp in Looe, Cornwall will cause evictions - 27/06/12

The owners of a holiday village in Looe Bay near Plymouth are starting to give notice to many families who have been permanently living on the village illegally. The site is going to be given a £50 million facelift and all existing residents are being asked to leave, as 150 luxury new homes will be built.

Selby holiday park given the green light - 09/06/12

Plans have been passed for the construction of a new holiday park in Thorpe Willoughby. The park will consist of 16 log cabins. There was many objections to the park, including effect on wildfire and damage to the scenery. However Selby council passed the application and the park will be built.
